鶹ֱ

鶹ֱ proudly announced the promotion of 23 exceptionally talented attorneys to the firm’s partnership on February 1. Our newest partners represent 13 of 鶹ֱ’s offices nationwide and span all four of the firm’s key sectors — Energy, Health Care & Life Sciences, Innovative Technology, and Manufacturing.

This new class of partners recently participated in two days of programming designed to help orient them to their new role at the firm. The sessions covered nuts and bolts like the partnership agreement, partner compensation, and tax issues as well as the shifts in mindset, relationships, and how they spend their time as they continue to build their practices and develop in their careers at the firm.

As they begin this next chapter, we asked what making partner means to them, what contributions they hope to make in this new role, what program played a part in their professional success, and what advice they would give to associates.

Their responses were as unique as they are, but collectively they convey that distinctive feeling that truly sets 鶹ֱ apart. Why 鶹ֱ has been the right choice for them … why it feels like the right place to build their careers … and why it feels like the right culture to form truly meaningful connections with colleagues. Why they are #Happyat鶹ֱ.

I benefit from the collaborative culture

“Becoming a partner is the reflection of the efforts of many people who have invested time and energy into helping me become the lawyer that I am.”

“There were numerous people who were invaluable in helping me make it to this milestone, and I’m not sure I would have gotten the type of support I have received here anywhere else.”

I’ve made meaningful connections

“Commit to building and investing in the relationships that will propel you through your career: mentors, potential clients, associates, and staff at every level of the firm.”

“I came to 鶹ֱ as a lateral, and in my short time here, I quickly developed connections and jelled with colleagues across several offices.”

I have purpose here

“I hope to be able to mentor and advocate for others coming up the ranks in the same manner as was done for me and to leave the firm a better place than I found it.”

“I’m excited to develop the next generation of young attorneys into skilled practitioners and advocates for our clients.”

I feel supported

“鶹ֱ’s mentorship program provides so many layers of support through every step of your career from law student through senior counsel. The affinity groups are also super supportive and provide mentorship and community as well.”

“I’ve spent my career here working with partners who treat associates and staff with the respect they deserve and take time to get to know the aspirations of those they’re working with. As a partner, I want to continue that tradition of supporting all the individuals I work with and helping make the firm an enviable place to work.”

The firm invests in me

“Participation in the firm’s leadership development program as a lateral accelerated my integration into the firm as well as my appreciation for 鶹ֱ’s client-focused culture.”

“鶹ֱ’s [investment in a] sector approach has allowed me to take an industry-specific approach to my practice and to build something that is exciting and rewarding.”

I have autonomy here

“Stay the course but do it your own way and do not doubt your abilities or that you belong here.”

“There is not a one-size-fits-all image for what makes a successful Big Law professional, and 鶹ֱ is an embodiment of the same in letter and spirit.”

I have opportunities for advancement

“The firm is full of people who genuinely want to see you succeed, so seek those people out and follow their guidance.”

“Be patient, be diligent, and keep pushing to get better. Everything will happen when it’s supposed to.”
