Andre Thiollier Interviewed on Market Environment, Startup Structure, and Investor Dynamics in US and Brazil

“The truth is venture capital is quite used to dealing with this,” Thiollier said of the slower activity in the markets the last couple years. “The big question is what is the size of the curve during the cycle that we are seeing now.”
“The money is still there that has been invested, and what exists now in this cycle are obstacles that need to be unlocked so VCs can get that invested capital back,” he continued. “From the point of view of capital contribution, from Silicon Valley, investors are practicing caution given the present dynamics of the U.S. macroeconomy. Thiollier described the “wait for the unlocking of things that need to be unlocked so investors can feel comfortable and confident again that their money can be put to work.”
Thiollier also touched on the results of the 2024 U.S. presidential election and its potential impact on markets, the governing structures and remuneration approaches of startup companies, and the emergence in Latin America, particularly in Brazil, of a newer model of venture investment that is fueling growth for emerging companies in the region.
