Drew Howell is a trial lawyer. He represents public companies, their officers and directors, financial institutions, lenders, REITs, and funds in securities litigation, financial-fraud disputes, and related regulatory and enforcement matters in courts across the country.

One theme runs through his work: a company’s finances and the claim that someone lied about it. Whether the claim is a false disclosure, a misleading financial statement, or an outright fraudulent transaction, Drew has litigated it — defending the companies and executives accused of misconduct and pursuing the parties who commit it. He works both sides of the “v.”

In securities litigation, he defends class actions and derivative suits under the Securities Exchange Act, Rule 10b-5, and state law, representing issuers, directors, officers, and investment professionals against claims of fraud, accounting irregularities, disclosure failures, and breaches of fiduciary duty. His aim is to end these cases early, at the pleading stage, and to hold those wins on appeal. In 2025 the Third Circuit affirmed one of his dismissals in a precedential opinion.

His financial-services work grows from the same roots. He defends banks and financial institutions against claims that they enabled someone else’s fraud, and he represents REITs and issuers in high-stakes commercial disputes, along with the SEC and FINRA investigations that shadow them.

Above all, Drew tries cases. In 2026 he co-chaired a multi-week bench trial for an affiliate of a publicly traded REIT and won an eight-figure judgment, including punitive damages, in a dispute over a multimillion-dollar reimbursement fraud. He builds the strategy, examines the witnesses, handles the experts, and turns a complicated financial record into a story a factfinder can follow.

A native Texan and Texas A&M graduate, Drew keeps a calm, plain-spoken presence with clients and in the courtroom. Outside the office, his time goes to golf, fitness, and his wife and two daughters.
