    • Led a multidisciplinary team of 20 FAS employees that leveraged a matrix management organizational structure to create, develop and implement USDA’s “Sub-Saharan Africa Trade Initiative”
      • Initiative launched in September 2013 in Johannesburg, South Africa with a trade mission, a trade show and a business forum
      • Received FAS’s “Excellence in Achieving Strategic Objectives Award” for leading USDA’s Sub- Saharan Africa Trade Initiative team
    • Managed FAS’s participation in the National Export Initiative and related White House efforts aimed at developing U.S. government policies that enhanced the competitiveness of U.S. agricultural exporters
    • Headed FAS team responsible for implementing certain aspects of the 2014 Farm Bill

  • Senior policy advisor, Office of the Secretary (2009–2011)
    • Served as the Commerce Secretary’s senior policy advisor with respect to both the President’s National Export Initiative and the Export Control Reform Initiative
      • Created and managed a team responsible for maximizing U.S. leadership in the global clean energy economy
      • Supervised development of the “Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Export Initiative,” which was the U.S. government’s first-ever effort to develop a coordinated and comprehensive approach to promoting U.S. clean energy and energy efficiency exports
      • Oversaw the Department of Commerce’s revitalization of the Trade Promotion Coordinating Committee (TPCC), including recommending that the TPCC develop inter-agency working groups focused on areas such as small business, clean energy and trade finance, which ultimately contributed to enhancing U.S. companies’ global competitiveness
      • Served as point person in the Secretary’s office regarding the White House’s Export Control Reform Initiative and assisted in managing the Department of Commerce’s efforts to modernize and to update key U.S. export control regulations
