Nikhil Pradhan is an intellectual property and patent attorney who advises artificial intelligence companies, technology founders, and in-house legal teams on patent strategy, trade secret protection, technology licensing, and commercialization. He works with startups and established companies developing artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies, including applications in healthcare, life sciences, software, computer vision, robotics, and other advanced technologies.
Nikhil helps clients to identify which aspects of AI-enabled technologies to protect and to determine whether patents, trade secrets, or a coordinated strategy will provide the strongest competitive advantage. His work includes providing counsel on AI and software patent eligibility, patent portfolio development, patent claim strategy, inventorship and ownership, disclosure timing, freedom-to-operate analysis, patent landscape analysis, technology licensing, and intellectual property diligence.
A significant part of Nikhil鈥檚 practice focuses on artificial intelligence in healthcare, life sciences, and other regulated industries. He advises companies on protecting and commercializing AI-enabled products, research tools, clinical technologies, data and training pipelines, computer vision systems, and machine learning platforms. He also counsels clients on data rights, confidentiality obligations, technology development arrangements, and intellectual property provisions in AI-related agreements.
Nikhil regularly works with AI founders and emerging companies at critical stages of product development and fundraising. He advises on protecting foundational innovations before public disclosures, product launches, customer engagements, collaborations, and capital raises. He also assists with university licensing, financing-related IP diligence, competitive patent analysis, clearance and validity assessments, and strategies for building intellectual property portfolios that support growth, investment, and commercialization.
His technical experience includes machine learning architectures, generative and predictive AI systems, computer vision, robotics, control systems, medical technologies, AI-enabled drug discovery, and other software- and data-intensive technologies. He helps clients translate complex technical developments into practical intellectual property strategies aligned with product roadmaps and business objectives.
Nikhil is a frequent speaker and author on artificial intelligence, intellectual property law, healthcare innovation, and emerging technologies. He has spoken at TED AI, the AI Summit, and programs hosted by the EIRA Initiative, and regularly publishes commentary on AI-related intellectual property developments.
